Dozens killed in Sri Lanka explosions
ECONOMYNEXT- Six explosions across Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday have left over 100 injured and dozens dead, media reports said.
Explosions went off at Easter Sunday mases in three churches in Colombo, Batticaloa and Negombo.
Explosions were also set off in restaurants in three major Colombo hotels; the Cinnamon Grand, The Kingsburg and the Shangri-La, with dozens of casualties reported, according to eyewitnesses.
President Maithripala Sirisena said investigations are underway, and urged calm.
Cardinal of the Catholic Church of Sri Lanka, Malcolm Ranjith said many have died, and his sympathies go to the families affected.
Ranjith condemned the explosions and urged calm.
"I urge everyone to remain calm, and not to take law onto your own hands."
Privately-held MTV television network said according to state health officials, 30 casualties were reported in Colombo, 27 in Batticaloa and 68 in Negombo.
Schools have been closed across the island, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.
