Dubai returnee dies while in quarantine due to infected wound – Officials
ECONOMYNEXT- A returnee from Dubai has died while undergoing quarantine in Nuwara Eliya but not from Covid related symptoms officials said.
The 56-year old man had tested negative for Covid, but was undergoing mandatory quarantine at a hotel in Nuwara Eliya, Colonel Vijitha Hettiarachchi who speaks for the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of Covid 19 told EconomyNext.
He had been admitted to hospital to be treated for an infection on his leg which had been wounded while he was still in Dubai.
The deceased was a father of one from Ja-ela and had worked as a Human Resource Officer in a private company in Dubai but had resigned later with the hope of coming back to Sri Lanka amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was diagnosed as a heart patient and a diabetic and was admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital after his arrival on September 1 to be treated for his wound.
He had passed away on the September 2 and the funeral took place today with the participation of his family members along with the hospital director and Public Health Inspectors at Nuwara Eliya following COVID-19 guidelines. (Colombo/Sept7/2020)
