Dumith Fernando appointed Sri Lanka’s stock exchange chairman
ECONOMYNEXT – Dumith Fernando, Chairman of Asia Securities group has been appointed Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange from July 01.
He succeeds MrRay Abeywardena, who steps down as the Chairman after completing his three-year tenure, the CSE said.
Fernando has has been on Board of the CSE since 2017.
Fernando has been Chairman of Asia Securities Holdings (Pvt) Ltd which has interests is stock broking, corporate finance and wealth management for the last six years.
He is an independent director at Union Assurance Plc and Singer (Sri Lanka) Plc and is a member of the Economic Policy Steering Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Fernando came to Sri Lanka in 2013 after working New York and Hong Kong, where he was with firm such as JPMorgan Chase and Credit Suisse, the CSE said.
Fernando was Managing Director and Group Chief Operating Officer for Credit Suisse Asia Pacific, before returned to Sri Lanka in 2013.
He holds a BA in Physics & Economics from Middlebury College in the U.S. and an MBA from Harvard Business School. (Colombo/June29/2020)
