Forensic audit on pre-2015 bond sales refer to losses, not fraud: Mahindananda
Co-Government Spokesman Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that a forensic audit on pre-2015 bond sales does not mention about any fraud that had taken place but losses to the government only.
He said that the Auditor General’s report on Central Bank bond issuance for the period February 2015 to May 2016 reveals about the bond scam that took place in the previous government.
And added that forensic audit report only reports on the loss incurred to the government through the issuance of bonds by CBSL during the period 2002 to 2015.
“The real bond scam happened in Ranil Wickremesinghe’s government,” he added.
He alleged that proteges of Arjun Aloysius were still inside the central bank and may have assisted in the audits.
Aluthgamage said that the report should have been prepared for the period 2017 to 2019 but they prepared it from 2002 to 2015 as they needed to hide their frauds.
Further, he said if some fraud had happened during the Mahinda Rajapaksa government then the CBSL can give this report to the Attorney General (AG) to take legal action.
