ECONOMYNEXT- The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) is saying that the Association is not demanding that its President Anuruddha Padeniya appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Health.
The Union referred to a news report that appeared yesterday quoting Dr Haritha Aluthge, Secretary of the GMOA that in order to improve the Health sector Padeniya should be given the secretary post.
The GMOA in a statement said they were surprised to see how the media has reported a distorted version again quoting the GMOA without any responsibility.
The press conference which was mentioned by the news article was held on Monday, where Aluthge said if Padeniya has the skills to bring the health sector of this country to a good position if he is appointed as the Secretary to the Health Ministry.
However, he said the decision to give him the post should be taken by the government and added that already the ministry has a good secretary. (Colombo/Aug12/2020)
