Gota will work for America for one year, even if he renounces citizenship – Hector Appuhamy
Even if former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa renounces his US citizenship, he will still work for America for one year since he has been an American citizen, UNP Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy said.
Addressing journalists at Temple Trees this morning (30 July), Appuhamy said that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) members who accuse the present Government of having relations with America have American citizens such as Gotabaya and Basil Rajapaksa as their leaders.
“The true story is that If Gotabaya comes to some position in this country, he still has to work for America for one year. That is the method in America. So will he be able to think about Sri Lanka and work? The answer is no. We can think about Sri Lanka and work, but he cannot,” the MP said.
Appuhamy further said that the SLPP members are playing what he called ‘Ra Daniel Dawal Miguel’ (pretending to be one character at night and another in the afternoon) continuously at present.
“I think the people should be vigilant about this matter because Gotabaya Rajapaksa is an American citizen for one more year even if he renounces his American citizenship,” the MP added.
