In surprise visit, Prez tells BIA officials to minimise delays and inconveniences
In an unannounced visit to the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) yesterday, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa instructed officials to minimise delays and inconveniences to the public and speed up construction work on the new terminal.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), Rajapaksa has also instructed Airport and Aviation Services Chairman Major General (Rtd) G A Chandrasiri to set up a separate terminal for taxis.
The PMD said that during his surprise visit, Rajapaksa gave specific instructions to airport officials to carry out security measures without inconveniencing the public and to also minimise delays caused to arriving and departing passengers.
The President observed the airport’s functioning, paying close attention to the efficiency of its passenger clearance processes, the PMD said.
Rajapaksa engaged in cordial discussions with the passengers and commended the BIA Chairman and staff for their service, it added.
