India Defence Secretary in SL

Defence Secretary of India Sanjay Mitra arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday (7) for an official two-day visit.

Mitra is in Colombo to attend the sixth Indo-Lanka Defence Dialogue to be held today.

According to Indian High Commission sources, Mitra will pay courtesy calls on President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during his visit.

The Defence Ministry, meanwhile, announced that the Indian bureaucrat will also meet his Sri Lankan counterpart Hemasiri Fernando as well as the Chief of Defence Staff and the commanders of the three forces.

Update: The President’s Media Unit announced that in the Indian Defence Secretary’s meeting with the President today, the possibility of a collaboration between the two countries in the fight against drug and human trafficking was discussed.
