Inflation in Sri Lankan capital Colombo rises to 3.7-pct in January

ECONOMYNEXT – Consumer inflation in Colombo rose to a four-month high of 3.7 percent in January 2019 from a year ago, according to data from the Department of Census and Statistics.

The Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) had risen 2.8 percent in December 2018.

The CCPI index in January 2019 rose 0.9 percent to 127.4 compared with the month before, when the index was 126.3, the department said in a statement.
