Japan to buy more Sri Lankan coco peat
ECONOMYNEXT – A team from Zen-Noh, the Japanese National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations, are visiting Sri Lanka to help promote exports of coco peat, a sustainable replacement for peat moss in plant cultivation.
The visit of the four-member team has been arranged by the Export Development Board, a Commerce Ministry statement said.
Zen-Noh will provide technical consultancy services to develop coco peat products in Sri Lanka, identify constrains in production and create awareness of Lankan coco peat among Japanese buyers, it said.
Zen-Noh is one of the world’s largest federations of agricultural cooperatives and is involved in the marketing, tracking, and quality assurance of the products of its cooperatives. (Colombo/August 3 2015)
