Japan’s foreign minister to visit Sri Lanka after 15 years
ECONOMYNEXT – Japan’s foreign minister Taro Kono will visit Sri Lanka on January 04, 2018, as part of efforts to build a free and open Indo Pacific region, the Japanese embassy in Colombo said.
"This visit is aimed at further consolidating the “Comprehensive Partnership” between Japan and Sri Lanka based on previous visits by Sri Lankan leaders," the embassy said in a statement.
"Strengthening cooperation and collaboration with Sri Lanka is important for the realization of a free and open Indo-Pacific area based on the rule of law."
Minister Kono will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Foreign Minister Tilak Marapone. (Colombo/Dec27/2017)
