John Kerry in Sri Lanka on May 02
COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – US Secretary of State John Kerry will visit Sri Lanka on May 02, to meet government leaders and representatives of the civil society, in the first such visit in over decade.
"In Colombo, he will meet government leaders, civil society members, and other representatives from the country’s diverse communities to hear and express U.S. support for their vision for a more peaceful, stable, and prosperous future for its people," the statement said.
"Secretary Kerry will also join his hosts for the celebration of the Buddhist holiday of Vesak."
This would be the first visit of a US Secretary of State, which is equivalent to foreign minister, since 2004.
