Kandakadu cluster’s number of Coronavirus positive patients rises to 560
ECONOMYNEXT-The number of COVID-19 positive patients from the Kandakadu cluster has risen to 560 increasing the total number of patients in Sri Lanka to 2724, according to the latest update issued by The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 this morning July 20.
The update said 451 detainees, 63 staff members, 5 invited staff at the Kandakadu Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, while 41 close contacts are also infected with the virus.
The centre also stated that a total of 20 new COVID-cases were reported by 6 am this morning in the island.
Four of them are close contacts of Kandakadu (1 from Pelmadulla and 3 from Kiriwaththuduwa), while 2 returnees from India, 2 returnees from UAE, 3 returnees from Qatar and 9 returnees from Saudi Arabia are also infected.
Meanwhile, 10 people arrived this morning from Doha on QR 668 passenger plane have been sent to quarantine centres under the control of the tri-forces.
Moreover, Six persons are scheduled to leave the Kalpitiya Quarantine Centre today after completing the quarantine bringing the total number of people who had left the after completing their quarantine period to 24,203.
Further, 6,052 persons are currently being quarantined in 53 quarantine centres controlled by the tri forces.
Yesterday (19), 1070 PCR tests have been conducted and the total number of PCR testing done in the country is 137,407.(Colombo, July 20, 2020)
