Kavinda steps down from PSC

United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Kavinda Jayawardena has stepped down from the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) appointed to inquire into the Easter Sunday bombings, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya told Parliament today.

Jayawardena has reportedly made the decision as he would not be able to fully commit to his duties in the Committee due to his obligations to the families affected by the tragedy.

The Gampaha district MP yesterday, along with fellow UNP backbencher Hector Appuhamy, told journalists that the PSC is equipped to investigate Minister Rishad Bathuideen for possible links to the suspected terrorists behind the attacks.
