Kishu Gomes leaves Sri Lanka Tourism
Economynext – Sri Lanka’s Tourism Promotion Bureau chairman Kishu Gomes has resigned with effect from November 15, 2019.
Gomes was appointed initially as the chairman of Sri-Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) by the President early this year but later the Prime Minister recommended him to head both SLTPB and Sri-Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
Kishu Gomes had a 22 year career with Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC and left after leading the company as chief executive officer.
Immediately after the Easter-Sunday attacks on three 5-star hotels, Gomes appointed an Emergency Response Team combing the bodies he was heading to support the private and public agencies both locally and abroad including the security forces.
By the end of October, the tourism industry has recovered up to 80 percent regaining confidence in key markets boosting early recovery. (Colombo/Nov14/2019)
