Kuwaiti woman bites Sri Lanka customs officers
ECONOMYNEXT – A Kuwaiti woman bit a woman customs officer and assaulted four others at the Bandaranaike international airport Friday when she was prevented from smuggling in a pet dog without quarantine.
The 32-year-old woman and her 29-year-old male partner went on the rampage attacking customs agents after they were told that their dog could not enter the country without following quarantine rules.
“The woman tried to do a runner with the dog, but a woman customs guard tried to prevent her from getting out of the customs area of the arrival lounge ,” customs spokesman Vipula Minuvanpitiya said.
Four other customs officers were also injured. All five of them have been admitted to the Negombo base hospital.
Police said the Kuwaiti couple was arrested and will be produced before the Negombo magistrate on Saturday and most likely to be deported. (COLOMBO, July 27, 2018)
