Lone gunman wielding T-56 Assault Rifle killed gangster in Anuradhapura – Police

ECONOMYNEXT- Police are saying an unknown gunman armed with a T-56 Assault Rifle shot and killed alleged underworld figure Eron Ranasinghe also known as ‘SF Lokka’ yesterday at a railway crossing in Anuradhapura town.

Police Media Spokesman SSP Jaliya Senaratne said that the unidentified gunman had arrived and fled on a motorcycle.

He said that the investigations revealed that a T-56 gun was used by the gunman for the assassination and that the police had recovered 7 bullet shells from the scene.

He said that the victim ‘SF Lokka’ had succumbed to his injuries after he was admitted to the Anuradhapura Hospital.

The car in which the victim was travelling had caught fire as a result of the shooting which was doused by the people around the place.

Anuradhapura police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

SF Lokka was a wanted criminal connected to many criminal activities including the killing of the ex-Karate champion Alexander Wasantha Wickrama de Zoysa ‘Karate Wasantha.’

The murder trial is on-going and Ranasinghe was out on bail when he was killed. He earned the “SF Lokka” moniker because he was former Special Forces officer in the Army.

Karate Wasantha was hacked to death by a gang at his night club back in 2015 and Ranasinghe was arrested later the same year. (Colombo/Aug6/2020)
