Moratuwa Mayor protests President’s remarks
The Mayor of Moratuwa is on a hunger strike to protest the statements made by the President about the carpentry industry.
Mayor W. Samanlal Fernando is urging President Maithripala Sirisena to withdraw his remarks about the ban on carpentry workshops.
The Mayor says that the President’s ban has caused grief to those who are engaged in the carpentry industry.
Three others have joined the Mayor. they are Municipal Councilors Ravindra Fernando and Suresh Indika and a local resident a spokesperson from the Moratuwa Municipal Council told RepublicNext.
