Navy tracing the contacts of the Sailor with COVID 19
ECONOMYNEXT- The Sri Lanka Navy is conducting tracing within the navy for the contacts of the Navy Sailor who was tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday at the Polonnaruwa District Hospital, Navy Spokesman Lt Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara told EconomyNext.
A Navy Sailor attached to the Welisara Navy Camp was tested positive for COVID-19 after admitting himself to the District Hospital in Polonnaruwa due to developing a Fever.
The Sailor, a resident of the Polonnaruwa District had returned home on the 18th and is reported to be the first patient identified from the region.
“We are doing the contact tracing but since he was tested positive while on leave, contact tracing about the local contacts in his area is done by the relevant health officials in the area,” Sooriyabandara said.
He also said some of the contacts within the navy have already been sent for PCR testing and added that further tracing is done to find his contacts within the Navy.
Control processes are completely done in the Welisara Navy Camp in which the Navyman was attached based on the given health guidelines.
Further, he said that since contact tracing and health measures are not done at the level of the Sri Lanka Navy but at the level of the presidential task force, all the information collected about the contacts will be given to the task force.(Colombo/Apr23/2020)
