Need to create a strong Opposition-Manusha
Parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara said that the United National Party MPs should stop helping the government for their personal reasons to create a strong opposition.
Speaking to a group of UNP followers in Galle yesterday (24 Nov), Nanayakkara said that opposition should not make political deals with the government and allow them to garner a two-thirds majority in the parliament.
Nanayakkara, a United People’s Freedom Alliance MP also said that Sajith Premadasa should be the Leader of the Opposition as the majority of the MPs in the UNP favour him.
‘” Although Ranil Wickremesinghe has done a great service to the party it needs a new change now and added that even though some say that Sajith Premadasa was the one who lost and therefore the leader should not change, ” he said.
“It is not Sajith Premadasa who lost. It was everybody who lost, it was the Freedom, Democracy and Justice in this country that has been lost,” he added.
Nanayakkara also added that 5.5 million people of the country have accepted Sajith Premadasa’s program and the UNP should move forward with a new young leader.
