ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's rate of inflation, as measured by the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), decelerated to 5.8% in July from 6.4% in June on year-on-year basis, the Department of Census and Statistics said.
“Both Food and Non-food categories contributed towards the year-on-year inflation in July 2016,” it said in a statement.
The change in the NCPI measured on an annual average basis increased to 3.4 per cent in July 2016 from 3.1 per cent in June 2016.
It was the first time in six months that the NCPI slowed down.
