ECONOMYNEXT - Sri Lanka's Hayleys Energy Services said it had modified, repaired and tested an oil rig at its Advantis Free Zone onshore, taking the island another step to be an services hub.
Components of the rig, 'Lewek Explorer 600’ were brought to Sri Lanka from several locations including from the Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah, UAE to its free zone in Katunayake, Sri Lanka which the firm said had 'green channel' operations allowing hassle free movement without taxes.
Hayleys Energy Services, is a unit of of Hayleys' Advantis logistics division, said its client EMAS Energy Services (Thailand), got significant savings from using Sri Lanka to carry out the group.
"The end-to-end logistics service offering of the Advantis Group and the experience in handling complex logistics operations gave us the confidence to approach EMAS and secure this new line of business for our Group," Chas Charles, Chief Executive Officer of Hayleys Energy Service said.
Hayleys Energy Services said it had moved across several countries such as Thailand, USA, Canada, UAE and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
