ECONOMYNEXT – Nihal Keppetipola, a port sector veteran has assumed duties as Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority, following the resignation of retired military general Daya Ratnayake.
Keppetipola was Managing Director of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority from 2008 to 2015. He was previously Harbhour Master until 2006 and Director Operations till 2008.
He had joined the Ports Authority in 1990 from Sri Lanka Shipping Corporation.
He was the Chairman of the Ceylon Fishery Harbours Corporation shortly before being appointed as SLPA chairman.
SLPA said the Minister of Ports and Shipping Rohitha Abeygunawardena had made the appointment on the instructions of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. (Colombo/June22/2021)
