No new COVID-19 patients reported in Sri Lanka by 6am today

ECONOMYNEXT – No new COVID-19 patients were reported in Sri Lanka as at 6am today (July 30), the government said.

Yesterday five patients were identified from the Senapura (Kandakadu East) Rehabilitation Center and from the Diyatalawa quarantine center.

Total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country is 2,810, and with 21 new recoveries as at 6 a.m. today the total recoveries have increased to 2,317.

With the new Covid 19 patient case yesterday, the total number reported from the Kandakadu cluster was increased to 598 with 482 being detainees, while 66 staff members, five invited staff members, one close contact of the patient-reported from Welikada prison and 44 other close contacts of the cluster also being identified.

Twenty-one recoveries were reported which include 13 locals while 08 were returnees from abroad.

Up to 28,323 have completed the quarantine period and returned home from islandwide quarantine centres.

The NOCPOC said that 121 people arrived this morning on special flights from Doha, Abu Dhabi and Chennai, and all of whom were directed to the quarantine centres controlled by the tri-forces.

A total of 2,298 people are currently under quarantine in 37 quarantine centres, islandwide.

The NOCPOC said 770 new PCR tests were conducted on July 29 and 155,540 PCR tests had been conducted so far in the country. (Colombo/Jul30/2020)
