No room for ISIS terrorists in Sri Lanka – PM
The Government is taking every possible step to combat terrorism in Sri Lanka, determined to not let terrorists destroy the country, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.
Wickremesinghe made these remarks speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the ‘Ran Mawath’ road development program in Rathnapura yesterday (12).
Noting that the intention of terrorists is to kill hundreds of people and curtail the development of the country, the Premier drew comparisons between the new threat and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE).
“ISIS terrorists are different from the LTTE. ISIS consists of small groups, unlike the LTTE. Therefore, when one group is destroyed, some other group comes up. So we need to stand united as a nation to prevent terrorism,” he said.
Wikremesinghe also stressed on the need to return to normalcy and maintain harmony at all costs in order to defeat terrorism.
