NZ PM says no intelligence SL bombings were in retaliation to Christchurch
New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said today (24) that her government was not aware of any intelligence suggesting that the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka were in retaliation to the Christchurch mosque shooting last month, Reuters reported.
Arden told a press conference in Auckland that the New Zealand Government has not received anything officially nor received any intelligence reports that corroborate what has been said in Sri Lanka.
State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene told Parliament yesterday that the initial investigations revealed that the attacks in Sri Lanka were carried out as revenge for the Christchurch shootings.
“Sri Lanka will be in the very early stages of its investigations. So we are simply stepping back and allowing them to undertake those, but we have nothing at this stage to corroborate what is being said,” Reuters quoted Ardern as saying.
