Pensioners’ salary anomalies removed from next month
The Ministry of Finance says that the removal of the pensioners’ salary anomalies will be implemented from 1 July.
Issuing a press release yesterday (16), the Ministry said that Over 500,000 public servants who retired before 31 December 2015 will benefit from the removal.
Accordingly, the salary of public servants who retired before 31 December 2015 will be increased by a minimum of Rs. 2,800 and a maximum of Rs. 20,000.
The salary anomaly arose as a result of considering those who retired before 31 December and others who retired thereafter under two different circulars.
In its statement, the Ministry said that the cost of living allowance of Rs. 3,525 will be continued to be paid to all pensioners.
The Government has allocated Rs. 1,200 million from 2019 budget to pay the salary increments to pensioners.
