Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe met Opposition Leader and Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning (3) at Temple Trees, reportedly to discuss the economic fallout of the Easter Sunday bombings.
Rajapaksa led a delegation of Opposition MPs comprising Dinesh Gunawardena, Susil Premajayantha, Bandula Gunawardena, Udaya Gammanpila, and Gamini Lokuge.
Wickremesinghe was flanked by Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera at the discussion, along with Treasury Secretary Dr. RHS Samaratunga and Economic Reforms and Public Distrubution Minister Harsha De Silva.
Central Bank Governor Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, Senior Deputy Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and Finance Ministry Advisor Mano Tittawella also attended the discussion, Temple Trees sources said.
Minister De Silva tweeted that the meeting was a “positive move to shed at least some political differences at a time like this, even temporarily.”
