President attends the Bohra Conference
President Maithripala Sirisena attended the World Annual Bohra Conference today (04) which is currently underway at the Bohra Mosque in Bambalapitiya, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
Addressing the conference, the President called for everyone’s contribution irrespective of race and religion to eliminate poverty and achieve peace.
The Conference commenced on September 1st and 18, 500 Bohra Muslims from 40 countries have arrived in the country to attend the conference whereas 2,500 Sri Lankan Bohra Muslims also attend the conference.
This year the Conference is held under the theme of ‘We believe in Sri Lanka’ and it aims to help Sri Lanka’s process of peacebuilding and reconciliation and convey the world that Sri Lanka is a safe place to travel and trade.
