Pujith begins explosive testimony

Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera says President Maithripala Sirisena did not invite him to attend Security Council meetings after October 2018.

Jayasundera also said that he was last asked to come to the Security Council was to discuss the removal of Inspector Nishantha Silva from the CID.

IP Silva was in charge of a number of sensitive investigations including those probing the abduction and alleged murder of a number of youths from the Colombo area.

Among those accused in the case are senior Navy officers including the current Chief of Defense Staff Rear Admiral Ravi Wijegunewardene.

He went on to say that after he was notified in writing about the impending attacks on Easter Sunday, he notified in writing Senior DIGs under his command including those in charge of Crimes, the Special Task Force, VIP Security, Traffic and the Western Province.
