ECONOMYNNEXT – R Rajamahendran, Chairman of Sri Lanka’s Capital Maharaja Group, which operates Sirasa and MTV television and radio networks has passed away at a private hospital on Sunday.
He was 78 years old. He was being treated for Covid-19 reports said.
Rajamahendran was born on May 19, 1943 and attended Royal College in Colombo, Newsfirst, a group online news portal said.
He had started working at the Maharaja Organization at 16. He had run the group from 21, after his father’s death.
Managing Director Sashi Rajamahendran, his son will lead the group.
Group offices were burnt in 1983 and Sirasa television was bombed in 2009. (Colombo/July25/2021)
