Rauf, Patali and Mano Ganesan back Sajith
ECONOMYNEXT – Three political parties, namely the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, the Jathika Hela Urumaya and the Tamil Progressive Front have announced that they will support an alliance led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at the upcoming Parliamentary General Elections.
In a joint announcement the three parties, which supported Premadasa’s losing Presidential bid, said that they consider it their responsibility to form a progressive force that will oppose the current administration which has dashed the hopes that were built up among the people of Sri Lanka.
The statement was released to Media by Dhanushka Ramanayake, of the JHU.
They said that the government has caused the country to descend into an economic crisis while disappointing the masses by not fulfilling the expectations that the voters had of them.
The announcement, signed by the SLMC’s Rauf Hakeem, the JHU’s Patali Champika Ranawaka and Mano Ganesan noted that the United National Party Working Committee has appointed the Leader and the General Secretary of the new alliance. (Colombo, February 13, 2020)
