Report on regulating Madrasas handed over to the PM
The report on regulating Madrassas or Islamic schools was presented to the Prime Minister yesterday (06) by Minister of Postal Services and Muslim Religious affairs M.H.A Haleem.
All Madrassas will be monitored and are expected to abide by a set of rules and regulations common for all educational institutions, according to the report.
The committee has studied the laws implemented in foreign countries and the Pirivena Education Act in order to prepare the report.
The draft will be presented to the Cabinet following the consultations of the Attorney General and the legal draftsman.
