ECONOMYNEXT – Singapore-based budget carrier Jetstar Asia, a 49 percent owned unit of Australia Qantas group will fly four times a week to Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo from July 2020, general sale agents Hayleys said.
“Hayleys has a long-standing relationship with the Qantas Group,..”Hayleys Chairman Mohan Pandithage said in a statement.
“The tourism industry will derive significant support from this operation, and Sri Lankan travelers will be provided with a unique travel experience as well.”
Jetstar will fly four days a week to Colombo. The flight will leave 1210h from Colombo on Monday and Saturday and 2100h on Wednesday and Friday.
“With our low fares, we’re excited to be able to open up this incredible destination to ensure more people experience all that it has to offer,” ,” Jetstar Asia CEO, Bara Pasupathi said.
“As we face an ever-changing aviation and tourism landscape, Jetstar Asia is committed to continuing to open up exciting new destinations for our customers.”
Promotional fares will go on sale from March 05 online at Jestar.com, the firm said.
Jetstar Asia will use 180-seat A320 equipment on the Colombo run. Colombo will be destination 25 on the Jetstar route network. (Colombo/Feb23/2020)
