Sri Lanka 1Q2015 GDP growth revised down to 4.4-pct
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s economy in the first quarter of 2015 grew slower than previously calculated according to revised national accounts presented by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) using 2010 as base year.
Gross Domestic Product for the January-March 2015 period grew 4.4 percent and not six percent, according to revised data released by the department.
The 2015 first quarter GDP increased up to 1,964,342 million rupees, not 1,994,247 million rupees as previously calculated, from 1,882,207 million rupees in the first quarter of 2014 at constant 2010 prices, it said.
In July the statistics office said it will publish a new series of gross domestic product data from 2015 and release revised data using a new base year of 2010. (Colombo/September 16 2015)
