Sri Lanka appoints three ministers ahead of UN report
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has appointed foreign, justice and rehabilitation, the information office said, with a United National report on human rights abuses due at the same time.
Mangala Samaraweera was re-appointed as Foreign Minister, Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa as Justice Minister and D M Swaminathan as Minister for Resettlement.
Sri Lanka’s new administration was expected to swear in a new cabinet Monday following several days of talks between the United National Party and Sri Lanka Freedom Party on a coalition administration, but negotiations were going on even Sunday.
The three appointments are key to dealing at UN report, which is due to be given to Sri Lanka, after a delay of six months. (Colombo/Aug24/2015)
