ECONOMYNEXT – The Sri Lanka Army has deployed a mobile vaccination fleet to inoculate the elderly, sick, disabled or otherwise feeble citizens that are unable to go to a vaccination centre, the national COVID-19 task force announced Wednesday (11).
The Western province-based mobile vaccination fleet will commence operations on Thursday (12) morning at the army headquarters in Sri Jayawardenapura, a task force statement said.
Ten vehicles with medical teams from the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) and the Directorate of Preventive Medicine and Mental Health assigned to each will be deployed, the statement said.

According to the Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasarathne, 46,672 people over 60 in Colombo have already signed up.
Yasarathna said they are expected to be vaccinated within a week. (Colombo/Aug11/2021)
