Sri Lanka has banned the National Thawheed Jammath (NTJ) and Jamathei Millathu Ibraheem (JMI), a week after the devastating Easter Sunday bombings that killed over 250 people.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Media Division, President Maithripala Sirisena banned the two radical Islamic organisations, using powers vested in him as per Emergency Regulation 1 of 2019.
All movable and immovable assets belonging to the groups will also be seized, the statement said.
