Sri Lanka blocks social media after unrest
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has blocked social media platforms like facebook.com and whatsapp following amid rising tensions between Muslim and Sinhalese communities.
On Sunday, police imposed curfew on in Chilaw, north of Colombo following unrest triggered over a facebook post by a Muslim shop owner.
There was also unrest overnight in Kuliyapitiya.
Nationalist groups have been active on facebook reviving boycotts of Muslim owned businesses and hate that had been prevalent at one time.
