Sri Lanka cabinet dissolved after no confidence motion: Speaker
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet stands dissolved after a no-confidence motion was passed against Mahinda Rajapaksa under the constitution, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya told parliament on November 15, shortly before chaos broke out in the house, amid a deepening political crisis.
Jaysuriya said under Article 48 of Sri Lanka’s constitution, the cabinet is dissolved under the constitution and he no longer recognized Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.

Dinesh Gunewardene then stood up saying he wanted to talk about a letter sent by President Maithripala Sirisena a day earlier.
Speaker said the letter will be answered separately and invited Rajapaksa to speak.
