Sri Lanka cabinet re-shuffle talks ongoing: Rajitha
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will make changes in a planned re-shuffle to assign portfolios on a more rational basis, Health Minister and Cabinet Spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said.
Senaratne said other than ‘one or two’ ministries many portfolios and subjects will be make more rational.
He said the re-shuffle may take place in a matter of days.
President Sirisena’s Sri Lanka Freedom Party is to make a formal decision on whether they will stay in the government.
SLFP ministers who voted against Wickremesinghe in a recent no trust vote are under pressure to resign.
Senaratne said if they leave, the portfolios would remain within the SLFP. (Colombo/Mar11/2018)
