Sri Lanka CB Governor on leave during bond probe

COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka’s Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran has gone on leave and has appointed P Samarasiri as Senior Deputy Governor, while a probe is conducted over alleged insider dealing in goverment securities.

It is a practice to designate a Deputy Governor as Senior Deputy Governor to overlook the affairs of the monetary authority in the absence of the Governor, such as when they go overseas.

The Central Bank said he would be on leave "during the period of inquiry."
