COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka’s Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said it seeking the support of business and public to help victims of the earthquake in Nepal.
The Chamber said relief will be distributed through the Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (APADM) of which it was a member.
The APADM had already sent a rescue team to Nepal and set up a hospital.
"Nepal being a least developed neighbor with limited resources, the people affected by the earthquake need our humanitarian assistance at this crucial moment," the statement said.
"Sri Lanka has received large scale humanitarian assistance during the tsunami disaster in 2004 as well as during the recent droughts, floods and the land slide at Meeriyabedda."
Cash contributions can be send to the ‘CCC National Disaster Relief Fund’ account number 0009 6000 1257 at Sampath Bank, the CCC said. CCC requested donors to credit the account by May 05, 2015.
