Sri Lanka coconut auction prices continues surge in January 2020
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka raw coconut prices grew 6.21 percent to 48,077 rupees for 1000 nuts at the auction on the third week of January up from 45,265, on January 16, with prices rising 56 percent over two months, official data showed.
Sri Lanka’s average coconut auction prices have risen 56 percent over two months from the third week of November to third week of January. On November 21, the average auction price was 31,420 for 1000 nuts.
Most vegetable and commodity prices are also up.
The top price at the weekly auction rose to 57,000 rupees for 1,000 nuts from 52,100 rupees from a week earlier.
The lowest price was40,000rupees, up from 39,500 rupees a week earlier.
Sellers offered 552,000 nuts for the auction and 503,000 were sold.
