ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s average coconut prices edged up 1.2 percent to 45,455 rupees for a 1000 nuts from 44,882 rupees a week earlier, at the last weekly auction in February.
Average prices peaked at 49,382 for a 1,000 nuts on January 30, and trended down to 42,977 on February 13, before starting to pick up.
At the last auction the highest price was 50,100 rupees for a 1,000 nuts and the lowest, 40,500 rupees.
Buyers offered 709,150 nuts at the auction and sold 417,066.
