Sri Lanka confirms 14th COVID-19 death; total cases rise to 6,028
ECONOMYNEXT – A 50-year old woman undergoing treatment at the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Angoda died today (22), bringing Sri Lanka’s total COVID-19 deaths to 14, the government information department said a short while ago.
The deceased female patient was a resident from Kuliyapitiya. Sri Lanka’s national COVID-19 prevention task force said the patient had attended a wedding ceremony in the Minuwangoda where the ongoing Brandix cluster originated early this month.
She was admitted to hospital after returning from the wedding ceremony and later tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
She was admitted to the ICU yesterday due to the difficulties in breathing, NOCPOC said.
Total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka at the time of writing is at 6,028. (Colombo/Oct22/2020)
