Sri Lanka constitutional amendment delayed to next week
COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – An amendment to Sri Lanka’s constitution has been delayed till next week, with parliament adjourning Tuesday without the bill being presented, amid protest earlier in the day over summing of ex-President Rajapaksa to the anti-bribery office.
Leader of the house Lakshman Kiriella told parliament following a meeting with partly leaders and President Maithripala Sirisena that Tuesday’s business has been put off till next week.
The bill is to be debated on April 27 and 28.
Amendment to the Constitution as well as several finance bills were scheduled to be taken up today.
