Sri Lanka court rejects petition against Gotabhaya Rajapaksa
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Court of Appeal has dismissed a petition challenging the citizenship of Gotabhaya Rajapsaka.
President of the Court of Appeal Yasantha Kodagoda and two other justices delivered the judgement.
Legislator and former minister G L Pieris said courts had completely thrown away the challenge in a unanimous decision.
He said at attempt to deny Gotabaya Rajapaksa a candidacy had failed.
Earlier today, Chamal Rajapaksa, brother of ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa also paid a deposit to the election commission.
Legislator Wimal Weerawansa said it was back-up plan.
