Sri Lanka economic essay winners announced by Ceylon Chamber
ECONOMYNEXT – Five university students have won an essay competition held by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and who will be recognized at an annual economic policy summit held later this week.
Colombo University’s Ashen Hirantha Rajakulathilaka, Kelaniya University’s Dilmini Abeyrathne, Asia Pacific Institute for Information and Technology’s Olinda Moraes, Colombo University’s Sathiyaseelan and Sri Jayewardenepura University’s Shashiprabha Rajapaksha were the winners.
They have been awarded free passes to attend the Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2018 organised by CCC, where they will receive certificates and cash prizes, CCC said in a statement. The policy summit begins on Thursday.
Economy.lk, a website of the CCC, held the companies to increase youth engagement in the national economic debate, the statement said.
The subject of the essay was "The Importance of Free Trade Agreements for Investment and Business in Sri Lanka."
CCC said it received 46 essay submissions across Sinhalese, Tamil and English languages and they were judged by its Economic Intelligence Unit. (Colombo/Sept11/2018)
