ECONOMMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has extended a waiver of parking and landing fees for charter operators at two airports in the country until July 2021 to encourage flights, the state information office said.
The waivers will remain in place at Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, Colombo International Airport in Ratmalana till July 19, 2021.
The cabinet of ministers had given the approval to give the concessions given to air charter operations conducted according to schedules prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and Sri Lanka Civil Aviation Authority.
Sri Lanka has allowed tourists to come to the island on regular scheduled flights and charters after re-opening the country to tourists from January 21, 2021.
Kazakhstan based SCAT and Air Astana are operating weekly charters to Mattala until April 2021.
Sri Lanka is now getting about 1,000 tourists and repatriating residents each day.
